No More Tears

RANDOM JACK POETRY HOUR: LIFE SONGS

No More Tears

A torrent of rain

So many people dead

From Gaza to Ukraine

No more tears to shed

The wars keep raging on

More hatred being bred

The fire in Hong Kong

No more tears to shed

The unsheltered army grows

The hungry are not fed

No jackets or warm clothes

No more tears to shed

A murder in the capitol

Our strength is being bled

Our promises grow cold

There’s no more tears to shed

The retribution tour

The sky is turning red

A smell like a sewer

We’ve no more tears to shed

We’re tired and we’re old

The end is drawing near

Our rights are being sold

But we have no more tears

Revenge and Retribution

RANDOM JACK POETRY HOUR: AMERICAN DEMOCRACY

Revenge and Retribution

Have you no shame?

Your pledge of retribution

Beyond a simple blame

Shames the institution

That upholds the rule of law

A solemn vow of fairness

A crude and ugly flaw

An absence of awareness

So heartless and so raw

You take the final straw

You, sir, are a disgrace

Beyond all comprehension

An actor out of place

Far too dark to mention

A man without a heart

A fool without a soul

You’re tearing us apart

Destroyer is your role

You are a piece of art

Destruction is your goal

We don’t know what you think

Are you really such a tool?

We fear a missing link

Or are you simply cruel?

Do you want to be remembered

As the worst who ever ruled?

The one and only member

The one who bears the name

The last of burning embers

The man who has no shame

To Kill a Man

RANDOM JACK POETRY HOUR: DEATH PENALTY

To Kill

To kill a man in anger

To kill a man for cause

To kill a man for vengeance

To kill a man is wrong

I understand the rage

When an injustice is done

But there is no compensation

In picking up a gun

There is no grand salvation

In public execution

Let the hand of justice reign

Let it be firm and strong

But let it be without emotion

For that which soothes today

Tomorrow it may stun

To kill someone in anger

To kill someone for cause

To kill someone is wrong

Regardless of the laws

There are many who are evil

Who deserve a sudden death

Their crimes are so despicable

They steal away our breath

When justice takes them down

We will not shed a tear

We’ll celebrate the moment

And raise a rowdy cheer

But we will not kill in anger

To prove that we are strong

We will not kill for vengeance

Because killing is wrong
