Starmer V. Farage

 RANDOM JACK POETRY HOUR: BRITAIN

Starmer V. Farage

Farage won this round

But the battle is not done

The European side is down

But the war has not been won

Starmer will hold steady

In a parliament of many

The old guard is not ready

To change the euro for the penny

Two opposing parties is insufficient

To express the people’s will

The entire system is deficient

Like a mountain for a hill

The young will push ahead

The old will fade away

A reunion will be bred

They’ll regret the day they strayed

The party leader may be new

Yet the cause remains the same

Britain yearns for Europe too

In something more than just a name

Trump and Xi

RANDOM JACK POETRY HOUR: GLOBAL POLITICS

Trump and Xi

Trump against Xi

It’s checkers versus chess

Trump laughing with glee

While Xi holds it to his vest

The world’s most powerful men

Have a great deal to discuss

Like a rooster to a hen

Like a train to a local bus

How’s your war in Iran?

Xi says with sly grin

We are already gone

That’s the way we will win

But the Strait is still closed

All the world is enraged

We’ve all suffered the blows

From the war you’ve engaged

Get out while you still can

Save your party and your face

But I am the greatest man!

You are a man in disgrace

Killer Virus

 RANDOM JACK POETRY HOUR: HEALTH

Killer Virus

Another killer virus is inevitable

And we are not prepared

We’re particularly susceptible

To one that carries through the air

We’ve cut funding to World Health

We need more money for war

We’ve misappropriated our wealth

To things we don’t need anymore

We don’t need to cause great harm

We don’t need weapons of war

We need to banish deadly arms

We need allies on distant shores

If this hantavirus is not the one

The one is coming down the line

Devastation will have its run

We are observing all the signs

When it comes we won’t be ready

We’ll be scrambling to respond

The Europeans will hold steady

But our structure will be gone

The Jim Crow Court

RANDOM JACK POETRY HOUR: SUPREME COURT

The Jim Crow Court

The Court has nullified democracy

In every way we know

They’ve embraced a white hypocrisy

In the name of old Jim Crow

They have decimated voting rights

Now they’ve hit a brand new low

They’ve pushed minorities out of sight

In the name of old Jim Crow

From Louisiana to Alabam

They’ve struck a deadly blow

The gerrymander diagram

In the name of old Jim Crow

They’re doing what they’re told to do

It’s the court of Donald show

We’ll all be pale before they’re through

In the name of old Jim Crow

They’re setting back the racial clock

Our discontent will grow

The Great Society has been blocked

In the name of old Jim Crow

Decisive change takes many years

Through sweat and blood and tears

The damage done we’ll never know

In the name of old Jim Crow
