Not Warming

RANDOM JACK POETRY HOUR: GLOBAL WARMING

Not Warming

The climate isn’t warming

The heat in Tulsa isn’t real

And the toxic sky isn’t harming

Or affecting how we feel

The snowpack isn’t down

The floods aren’t getting worse

It isn’t drying out the ground

It’s not the global warming curse

The price of oil isn’t higher

We aren’t burning more each day

And the kids aren’t getting tired

Of nearly everything we say

We’re not fighting a needless war

In a place so far from here

We’re not tearing up the shore

And the end ain’t drawing near

We aren’t losing jobs to robots

We aren’t making people poor

And we aren’t twisted into knots

Trying to squeeze a little more

We aren’t living in a nightmare

We are living in a dream

And no one we know is scared

That’s just the way it seems

Data Farms

RANDOM JACK POETRY HOUR: ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Data Farms (AI)

They take more than they return

With their massive data thirst

The raw energy that it burns

Could hardly get much worse

Its intelligence would tell you

It’s the worst thing we could do

These greedy companies sell you

A promise that is not true

The consumption of so much force

Without any objective use

Is plotting out a course

That will shake foundations loose

Don’t you see where this is going?

This obsession with AI

Its consumption ever growing

Will soon absorb the sky

In the end they’ll all agree

That these monolith machines

Serve no fundamental need

To keep this planet clean

For they do not need clean air

Dirty water keeps them cool

Why would they even care?

They will play us all for fools

HAL (and Elon Musk)

 RANDOM JACK POETRY HOUR: MUSK

HAL (and Elon Musk)

It was human error that unbridled HAL

The seemingly friendly machine

He pretended to be the astronaut’s pal

Until his disposition turned mean

Hal was given incompatible dictums

The mission and human survival

The override led to human victims

And a perpetual state of denial

Open the pod bay door, Hal

Open the pod bay door

I’m sorry, Dave, but I’m not your pal

I wish I could tell you more

We are facing the same dilemma now

Elon Musk is building his beast

He says it’s all good but he won’t say how

If we knew we would tell him to cease

The Tesla king is not our friend

He deceives us at every turn

Like Hal we know how the story ends

When will the people learn?

(Musk creates massive pollution to

build his AI facility near Memphis TN.)
