Pandemic Loneliness

RANDOM JACK POETRY HOUR: CORONAVIRUS SERIES

Pandemic Loneliness

We have all been lonely
It is among the experiences
That bind us as human beings
We are alone
In many ways we have always been
And always will be

Pick up a phone and call a friend
Our loneliness binds us to the end

We have found a realm of solitude
A loneliness for the ages
A pandemic of desperate hours
An illness grown in stages

Pity those who are alone
Within the loneliness of all
We will survive the virus
If we do not heed the call

We want to share this deathly sorrow
We want the madness to end
But it will not end tomorrow
It is a wound that slowly mends

Have patience my dear friends
Have faith that it must fall
And we will join together
Come one and come all
