The Contingency

RANDOM JACK POETRY HOUR: CORONAVIRUS SERIES

The Contingency

The plans we make the things we’ll do
If only lord we make it through

I’ll be more patient
I’ll give more to charity
I’ll help feed the homeless
I’ll volunteer at the public library
I’ll eat more fruits and vegetables
I’ll drink more juice and water
I’ll exercise more often
I’ll control my temper
I’ll pray and meditate
I’ll join a church

Help me make it through the day
I swear I’ll find a better way

Help me make it through the night
I swear I’ll find a better light

The greater truth of course
Is that the virus doesn’t care
It doesn’t matter if your good or bad
It’s a matter of when and where
