ABC Bends the Knee

 RANDOM JACK POETRY HOUR: JOURNALISM

ABC Bends the Knee

George Stephanopoulos misspoke

He took a step over the line

But if the Court was not a joke

What he said would be just fine

Freedom of the press is on the run

The warning is in place

The Bill of Rights is largely done

They will toss it in your face

The talking heads are bowing down

Leave your courage at the desk

A new journalism is in town

In propaganda we invest

The pundits and the powers

Are all bending at the knees

They’re all sacrifice and cower

They’re trying hard to please

We are a nation in retreat

We will toss away our rights

We’re telling everyone we meet

That this is not the time to fight

But if you’re having second thoughts

If you don’t like how it goes down

There’s still a battle to be fought

Find the guts to stand your ground

settle a defamation suit.)

Contamination of the Press

RANDOM JACK POETRY HOUR: AMERICAN DEMOCRACY

Contamination of the Press

Look hard and long, it’s plain to see

The press ain’t what it used to be

A shadow of its former self

A dusty volume on the shelf

We’ve seen the power of the press

When Richard Nixon did his best

To undermine our free and fair

In the days when papers cared

In a story that toppled towers

They did not hide, they did not cower

They exposed his dirt and crooked deeds

And let it run where it would lead

Today they let it all go down

The truth is nowhere to be found

Who cares about democracy?

We’ll profit from autocracy

So let it all unfold

The truth will not be told

Not today and not tomorrow

When all is gloom and sorrow

(Jeff Bezos’ Washington Post

declines to endorse for president.)

Talkover at CNN

RANDOM JACK POETRY HOUR: TRUMP DAZE

The Talkover at CNN

The big bully doesn’t have conversations

He runs over you like a bulldozer

Like the bully that he is

And if you dare try to stand up to him

If you dare try to get a word in

He calls you nasty names

He holds you in contempt

And places you beneath his majesty

He has his narrative of fantasy

He sticks to his talking points

Everyone who disagrees with him

Everyone who interrupts his flow

His constant flow of sacred words

His golden jewels of wisdom

Is on the take of the elite

Under the influence of haters

Drunk on the manna of media madness

He alone can set you free

He alone can end the madness

He alone can restore dignity

He alone can lead the world to peace

He alone can give women want they want

He alone can make America great again

He alone can put people in their place

He alone is the genie of all genies

You know it, I know it

Everybody knows it!

The insurrection never happened

January 6 was a walk in the park

America has gone to hell

The Proud Boys are heroes

Stand back and stand by!

He’s got a job to finish:

Ending democracy in America

Tucker's Reign

RANDOM JACK POETRY HOUR: AMERICAN MEDIA

Tucker’s Reign

Three million viewers daily

And not a particle of integrity

He pedaled propaganda to the masses

Not the facts, not reasoned opinion

Not a particular point of view

But raw uninhibited propaganda

An alternative universe

A purely imagined reality

He was the King of Conspiracy

An instigator of insurrection

A Russian pawn

An apostle of the Don

No one could take him down

Until they did

Not even the first amendment

Could protect the blatant lies

The unbridled hatred

The fake outrage

The unashamed racism

Of Tucker Carlson

He made Fox News a lot of money

But in the end he cost more

Than he made

What price integrity?
